Chileans expect exports to level out
Chile's forest industry is expecting this year will be similar to 2001 in terms of exports. The president of wood manufacturers' corporation, CORMA, José Ignacio Letamendi, as noting exports last year were down by 8 per cent, to US$2,206 million. It was not expected this level would be much lower - the key reason being that the price of pulp had bottomed and a recovery was expected in the second quarter.
