After a successful 2007 edition, international wood suppliers focus once again on China Furniture & Woodworks (June 12-15, 2008). This year’s edition will focus on China’s solid wood furniture industrial base and match suppliers with local manufacturers via its effective platform. To date, organizers have received inquiries and applications from dozens of international wood suppliers.
Northeast China is one of the top 5 furniture manufacturing regions as well as a solid wood furniture production base. Situated in Northeast China and Bohai-Bay Economic Rim, Dalian’s furniture and wood products’ industries have flourished in recent years. There are more than 1500 manufacturers spanning the wood industry, from wood furniture components, flooring, windows and doors to finished furniture. Taking full advantage of the advanced logistics, finance and foreign trade facilities of Dalian, over 60% of those companies export their products to overseas markets. In 2007, Dalian was officially granted the special industrial region title of China Solid Wood Furniture Industrial Base, becoming once again a focus point for the international furniture industry. The furniture industry of Dalian and even the entire Northeast region receive more development opportunities.
China Furniture & Woodworks 2008
Because the Russian government raised tariffs on log exports last year, the export volumes of logs dropped dramatically and the price of Russian wood has increased. On the other hand, domestic wood resources are lacking. To compensate for the decrease in supply, Chinese manufacturers of furniture, flooring and other products began seeking raw materials from different regions.
International wood suppliers gather at China Furniture & Woodworks just because they are bullish on North China market. Currently, overseas wood suppliers including Austrian Wood Products, Australian ITC, Exor Trading, Ignisterra, Weyerhaeuser Hardwood, Prime Lumber, Canada Wood, Malaysian Timber Council, etc., have confirmed their participation in China Furniture & Woodworks 2008 and will showcase wood and timber from all over of the world.
