Grazia Finocchiaro, Acimall vice president, presented recently the 2005 preliminary data for the Italian industry of woodworking and furniture technologies. Statistics showed a 2.5% contraction in production versus 2004, due to a 3% decrease in import (equal to 1,288 million Euros) “.. which is not alarming since these figures have to be compared with 2004, when our companies recorded 7.6% increase in production and 11.7% growth in export as compared to the previous year.”
After a careful analysis of the trend recorded between 1999 and 2005, the Acimall vice president presented 2006 forecasts, processed by the Studies Office of Acimall: this year the Italian production is expected to increase by 4% up to 1,620 million euros. Domestic demand is also expected to rise (+6%, 300 million euros), while export should grow at lower rates, reaching 1,320 million euros (+3 percent).
Italian industry of woodworking and furniture technologies employs 12,000 people in 300 relevant companies - including 215 Acimall members - manufacturing 90 percent of the entire Italian production.
