Demand for framing lumber remained stuck in low gear, but most producers resisted cutting quotes by more than a few dollars. The end of the month and quarter, along with holidays next week in both the U.S. and Canada, led secondaries to lighten their inventories and keep new purchases to a minimum. Curtailments planned for the week of June 30 alleviated the pressure at some U.S. mills. Scheduled summer shutdowns had the same effect in Eastern Canada.
